The Second Century Fund (C2F)

Following the approval of the Second Century Fund (C2F) Plan Phase 3 by Chulalongkorn University Council on Jan 24, 2019, C2F Office was established in February 2019 under the C2F Directive and Policy Committee, chaired by CU President, Professor Dr. Bundhit Eua-arporn. In the approved C2F Plan, there are four strategic plans to accomplish its objectives including Intelligence, Infrastructure, International and Impact.

Future Leaders

The mission of C2F in building Future Leaders is to recruit top talent graduate students and PhD not only domestically from Thailand but internationally from around the world to increase the university’s capability to perform high-quality research and enhance international atmosphere in Chula. C2F provides scholarship as follows:

Impactful
Research &
Innovation

C2F has two main areas serving the university’s mission of Impactful Research & Innovation. The first one is University Technology Center (UTC)
which is a platform to springboard deep technologies (e.g. Big Data, AI for health, Biotech) from laboratories to market. UTC’s vision is “collective elevation of society, the economy and the spirit through the power of deep technologies”
The second area is a Strategic Partnership that aims to strengthen strategic partner and matching fund with top universities or institutes. There are 5 programs supported by C2F:

Sustainability

C2Fs’s Sustainability Mission is to grant big & high impact programs responding to global issues, the national agendas, or societal needs. Derived the topic from overarching issues, the university will appoint topics as research’s agendas for Top down programs. While bottom up programs will be proposed by faculty/institute to create excellent academic outcomes. One crucial point that the program should demonstrate is the commitment to achieve financial sustainability through income generated from innovation, research, service or creative work so that the program can be continued in the long term.
